This bulletin supersedes Bulletin 2020-007 – Written Certification Renewal issued on March 17.

Effective immediately, the Commission will allow a certifying health care provider who is registered with the Commission to provide a written certification to a qualifying patient via telehealth under limited circumstances. This applies to an initial written certification and a written certification renewal.

This bulletin will remain in effect until the state of emergency and the proclamation of the catastrophic health emergency has been rescinded. Upon termination of the state of emergency, this bulletin will terminate and certifying providers may no longer issue a written certification via telehealth.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1589086997248{background-color: #55a16e !important;}” el_class=”medical_cannabis_section”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”MEDICAL CANNABIS” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:45px|text_align:left|color:%2355a16e” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1589087141545{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]

Medical cannabis-also called medical marijuana-uses the marijuana plant and/or the chemicals in it to treat diseases or conditions. The marijuana plant contains over 100 different chemicals. These chemicals are called cannabinoids, and each one has a different effect on the body. The main cannabinoids used in medicine are Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).

Medical Cannabis is used to treat many conditions, including:

-Chronic Pain

-Eating Disorders

-Mental Health Conditions

-Epilepsy[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]-Nausea

-Muscle Spasms

-Glaucoma

-Cachexia (wasting syndrome)

-Multiple Sclerosis[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Cannabinoids can be similar to chemicals that the body makes naturally, relating to appetite, pain, memory and movement. Because of these cannabinoids, medical cannabis has been shown to have extremely beneficial effects on several medical conditions. Many medications that are commonly prescribed to treat these medical conditions leave patients with unpleasant side effects or adverse reactions. Medical Cannabis is a wonderful treatment alternative for many patients.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” content_placement=”middle” css=”.vc_custom_1589085343304{background-color: #fafbfc !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1589088041181{margin-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_custom_heading text=”Natural Dentist Associates is currently accepting new patients, including patients who are considering the use of medical cannabis for support with dental treatment.” font_container=”tag:h4|font_size:30px|text_align:center|color:%2355a16e|line_height:40px” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_row_inner gap=”20″ css=”.vc_custom_1589435616650{padding-top: 40px !important;}”][vc_column_inner el_class=”effect-jazz” width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1591933052394{margin-bottom: 20px !important;background-color: #55a16e !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”418″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1591934293195{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;}” link=”http://45.76.248.7/about-us/meet-dr-kimberly-baer/”][vc_custom_heading text=”Dr. Kimberly Baer” font_container=”tag:h4|font_size:20px|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1589435652694{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fnaturaldentistassociates.com%2Fabout-us%2Fmeet-dr-kimberly-baer%2F|||”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner el_class=”effect-jazz” width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1589434718512{background-color: #55a16e !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”419″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” css_animation=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1591934322990{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;}” link=”http://45.76.248.7/about-us/dr-jennifer-tipograph/”][vc_custom_heading text=”Dr. Jennifer Tipograph” font_container=”tag:h4|font_size:20px|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1589435366889{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fnaturaldentistassociates.com%2Fabout-us%2Fdr-jennifer-tipograph%2F|||”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner content_placement=”middle” gap=”15″ css=”.vc_custom_1589086138602{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Dr. Jennifer Tipograph is registered as an advisor with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC). Medical marijuana is a plant-based medicine from the Cannabis Sativa or Cannabis Indica species with three major compounds: THC, CBD, and CBN. Humans have grown and consumed the flowering tops of the Cannabis plant (collectively known as “marijuana”) for thousands of years. The chemicals produced by the plant have been shown to have beneficial effects on several medical conditions. There are many people that do not respond well and/or have side effects to commonly prescribed medications for these conditions, where Cannabidiol/THC may provide an alternate treatment strategy.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Medical marijuana was legalized in Maryland in December 2017. A person interested in legally obtaining medical marijuana must receive a written recommendation issued by a Maryland Licensed Provider. At Natural Dentist Associates, we have three Maryland Licensed Providers joining the health community in offering these medical recommendations to Maryland residents who may be suffering from a broad range of dental conditions.
